Center wins first place award for social justice reporting

BLOOMINGTON – The Arnolt Center for Investigative Journalism collaboration with the Limestone Post won an Indiana SPJ award for social justice reporting.

Brookelyn Lambright, Brenna Polovina and Karl Templeton won first place for “Resilience amid hardship: Refugees find challenges, opportunities in Bloomington” in the social justice reporting circulation above 10,000 category. Indy SPJ presented its 2024 awards during a ceremony Friday night.

The students reported on how a patchwork of nonprofits and religious organizations step in to aid with housing, transportation, basic needs and legal services to support new refugees arriving in Bloomington.
